Chocolate, chocolate add the milk!

Hi there ceramics friends!

It's been a slow start in the pottery studio this year so far..

With low winter light, it makes so much sense to comfortably be at rest.

The cold, damp weather affects the time it takes for everything! And the moisture in the clay takes a lot longer to dry out!

Even so, saying that, I've made several plates, bowls and mugs, waiting to dry out enough, before being ready to go into the kiln.

Out on my afternoon bay walks, seeing a rainbow against a dark sky brings such hope!

And who doesn't love to stop at a favourite café for a drinking chocolate on days like this!

Brucciani's is a famous listed, originally designed Art Deco café that still has all those lovely features of the 1920s and 30s. Famous for it's ice cream and Lavazza coffee, lot of famous people have sat and enjoyed lovely times here :) ☕️

Definitely worth visiting on a trip to Morecambe!

With that feeling of nostalgia, an old song by Cat Stevens reminds me of the beloved nature of Morecambe bay...

"Morning has broken like the first morning, black bird has spoken like the first bird. Praise for the morning, Praise for the singing, Praise for the springing, fresh from the world"…

The newness and the freshness of each misty morning and the beautiful pink sunset skies across the bay in the evening. Always changing and yet always the same!

Here's a picture I've painted of one of those winter bay sunsets...

So let's see what happens next month :)

Onwards and upwards.

With love,

Abi.

PS By the way, planning ahead...

I've signed up for a market stall in Morecambe. We start in April and then each month through to the Christmas market in December.

So for locals and visitors alike this will be a great opportunity to see Morecambe Bay Pottery outside, in the fresh air by the sea.

Something to look forward to!
