Japan. Shop. Pots. Prints

Hi, Abi here again...

Welcome to our June Pottery Newsletter.

I’ve some exciting updates to share with you...

Six joyful months ago I started this tiny pottery venture and finally we are...

Almost ready.

I’ll be honest it’s all been quite a steep learning curve for me but so worth it.

I probably didn’t realise all the extra ‘stuff’ which needed to be done on the business side of things.

That said…

Part one of today’s exciting news is, our website shop is pretty much finished.

We just need approval from the card providers now which should come very soon.

Then we can go live!

Meanwhile…

While writing this for you I’m drinking from a mug made by ninety six year old mum!

It gives me so much inspiration and reminds me it doesn't matter how old you are.

That life is for living and enjoying the things we love!

And talking of mysteries…

I also went to visit the V&A museum in London. Seeing the vast collection of ceramics from around the world; ancient and modern was incredible!

From modern or highly, elaborate, decorated pots to the humble vessel of ancient times.

My favourite being the Japanese pottery, (like the ceramic tile screens above or Akiko's amazing 'moon' pieces below) but I especially love the tea bowls, that have been so well preserved.

It's given me a lot of inspiration for my own pieces which you can see below.

It's amazing to think it's often the pottery fragments found in archaeological digs that reveal the history of ancient civilisations from thousands of years ago.

It seems the durability of clay after it's been in the kiln can last forever!

Which is what I want for the pots I make for you.

Just think…

Ceramics last thousands of years!

I hope you like one of the pieces I make for you. Each one is art and totally unique.

May yours last one thousand years.

Here’s a wee sneak peek for you...

Abi's misty Bay (you can see my Japanese influences!)

A pair of my Noodle Bowls :)

Here is one of them close up...

So as you can see I’ve had a few adventures during the few weeks!

The vision I have for Morecambe Bay Pottery is to make beautiful vessels for people to love and enjoy using.

Each one individually made. I can't wait to share them all with you.

With love.

Abi!

P.S

I nearly forgot, I’ve also been making cards for you too!

These greeting cards are printed from some of the paintings I've done of the bay views and the flowers in my garden.

You’ll see the collection in the Morecambe Bay Pottery online shop very soon!
